Design Elements to Add to a Company Blog

Design Elements

If one of your new years resolutions is to incorporate a blog on your company’s website, there are a few must-have design elements to keep in mind.

It’s important to keep the color scheme of your blog, your website, and your marketing materials the same. There can be different variations of the same color scheme, but for the most part, the colors need to brand your blog to the rest of your company.

Another essential decision will be typography. Web based writing doesn’t support type that is serif styled, so choose a font that is easy on the eyes. Additionally, make sure to leave enough white space to make the post easy to skim, while still being visually appealing.

Post length is important as it will decide how you set up your blog. If you are going to have longer posts, you may decide to have only excerpts of the post show, with a click to continue reading button. That way you can fit more blogs, and therefore more headlines. If your posts are short, then you won’t need to worry about this.

Integrating social media into your blog design is important. Visitors should have an extremely easy way to share the post via Facebook, Twitter, or email. Social media icons should be not only underneath each post, but also on the sidebar or footer, allowing visitors to connect with your social media profiles if they wish.

Adding a blog to a company website is always a good idea. Just make sure the branding and design is consistent with the rest of the company site and marketing materials.
