We're currently seeking a front-end WordPress Developer to join our team. As our focus is on expanding our local collective, this career opportunity is available to Chicagoland candidates only.

  • Produce functional WordPress websites.
  • Utilize GitHub for version control.
  • Collaborate with strategy and creative teams from design inception to production and launch.
  • Participate in site architecture, process, and planning discussions.
  • Adhere to web best practices, including usability and accessibility standards.
  • Write and maintain well-documented code.
  • Optimize websites for speed and performance.
  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated with the latest WordPress features, plugins, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration of web functionalities.
  • Conduct regular website backups to prevent data loss.
  • Continuously test and iterate on user feedback to improve site usability and functionality.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in WordPress development.
    • Proven track record of producing functional, optimized, and responsive WordPress websites.
  3. Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong expertise in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
    • Experience with popular WordPress page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg).
    • Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control systems.
  4. Knowledge:
    • Understanding of web best practices, including SEO, usability, and accessibility standards.
    • Familiarity with web server technologies such as Apache or Nginx.
    • Experience with responsive and adaptive design principles.
  5. Problem-Solving:
    • Ability to troubleshoot and fix website issues quickly.
    • Familiarity with debugging tools like Chrome DevTools.

Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Certifications: WordPress or related web development certifications.
    2. Knowledge:
      • Experience with eCommerce platforms like WooCommerce.
      • Understanding of Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and caching mechanisms.
      • Familiarity with additional web programming languages, such as jQuery or JS.
    3. Soft Skills:
      • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with design, strategy, and backend teams.
      • Detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Adaptability to changing project requirements or timelines.
